Tensions flared Friday night after a vigil for a 21-year-old Black man shot and killed by Clark County deputies Thursday night. The sheriff’s office said during a Friday afternoon news briefing that Kevin Peterson Jr. shot at deputies first, but the team investigating the shooting would not confirm that Friday night. Family and friends honored Peterson at the vigil on Highway 99 NE near where he was shot outside a US Bank. It started as a peaceful gathering of hundreds of people.
