State charged with developing psilocybin therapy program

This week Oregon made history, becoming the first state in the country to legalize psilocybin mushrooms for therapeutic use. The state now has to create a new program from scratch. The Oregon Health Authority will run it, and with the passage of Measure 109, it has two years to develop a program that would allow for use of the drug in licensed centers. Psilocybin is the hallucinogenic compound in magic mushrooms. Fifty-six percent of Oregon voters approved its use.
