Federal agents have caught an alleged serial arsonist accused of lighting fires in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. 38-year-old Eric Michael Smith of Redding is accused of setting four fires between June 23 and July 29. Smith faces a federal arson charge, U. S. Attorney McGregor W. Scott announced Thursday. Firefighters were able to quickly contain the fires, but they did cause disruption. One fire set near Turntable Bay led to lane closures on Interstate 5.
